Renfrew plays his way into PGA Tour season-opener

Victoria’s Cory Renfrew fired a seven-under 65 at the Bayonet Course in Seaside, Calif., to win a Monday qualifier and gain entry into the 2015-16 season-opening event on the PGA Tour.

Renfrew had eight birdies and just one bogey in his round. He won the qualifier by four shots.

The tourney offers a purse of $6 million and is the first of six Fall Series events that kicks off a new season on the PGA Tour.
